NEWS ABOUT SCDA Burns Night - 2006 We held a very successful celebration of the life and legacy of Robert Burns on January 28th. We dined on steak pie, haggis and the other traditional Scottish fare; enjoyed hilarious speakers, the bagpipes, singing and dancing. Click here for photos courtesy of Donna Harp. Roy Goldring Sadly Roy passed away on September 4th, 2007. Although none of our group knew him personally we have enjoyed so many of the dances he devised. On Sunday 16th we held a tribute to Roy and celebrated his life by having an evening devoted to his dances. This was no hardship, as his dances are such fun to do; each figure just flows so well into the next one. Thank you Elizabeth for preparing the program for us. We had a super turnout, so thank you all; more dancers, more fun! We offer our condolences to Roy's widow, Doreen, and to all his friends in the Leeds Branch of RSCDS. What a wonderful legacy Roy has left to the World. |
